Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that getting back into education after a long period of time can be daunting, but with the dynamic and unrivalled support pack that DLC Training offer to each student, you’ll settle back into studying in no time. All of our student support packages are tailored to meet your individual needs to help you reach your maximum potential. Our success rates are some of the best in the industry, so you’re in good hands.

You will be assigned a tutor from our expert team of qualified teaching professionals, each of whom has an impressive background of experience in their field. Your tutor will provide course feedback, mock assignments and exams, guidance on examination preparation and revision technique, and any other support you need as part of your studies.

All of our distance learning courses include unlimited tutor support. Before you start your studies you will complete an online induction with the assistance of our Student Support Team and your dedicated liaison. During this induction, you will be given all of the information you need to get in touch with your tutor, student support or any other department. One-to-one calls with your tutor can be scheduled through your student support liaison at any time. Your liaison will be your main point of contact here at DLC, and we encourage you to contact them at least once a month to talk through any issues and the progress you are making on your course.

Each piece of work you complete will be uploaded onto our learning platform. You will receive feedback on every submission. Feedback will be in written format, but you also have the option of scheduling a telephone call with your tutor after you’ve received your response to discuss any queries or questions you may have about it.

Once you have enrolled, you will be given a target end date. Due to the flexibility of our courses, you may finish your studies before this date; however, we also understand that life can sometimes become overwhelming and situations occur that may delay the completion of your course. We offer a range of course extensions and solutions, if you ever feel like you need more time. You can discuss this with student support at any time.

Due to personal, professional or any other circumstances, sometimes our students need to take a break in their studies. As well as applying for a course extension, you can also pause your qualification and resume it again when you’re ready. Your student support liaison will be in touch regularly throughout your paused period, to see how you’re getting on and when you’ll be likely to continue; however there’s no rush. Our mission is your success.

All of our distance learning courses are Ofqual accredited, industry recognised and make a fantastic addition to your CV.

If your employer is funding your studies, we ask that they inform us of the person who will be your ‘Business Sponsor’. Your business sponsor will be provided with regular updates on your progress and will be contacted with regards to any extensions or delays in your studies. To maintain full confidentiality between our students and college, we never share any of your course work with your business sponsor.

The main difference between CMI and ILM courses is their content. The subject matter of the units, what they cover, the amount of study required and the value of each unit can all differ between CMI and ILM qualifications.

ILM courses require you to complete more units because the units are more condensed, so you can complete them at a quicker pace. ILM qualifications may also be favoured by companies within the public sector – for example, hospitals or councils. On the other hand, CMI qualifications tend to be favoured by companies within the private sector and have fewer units as the credit values are higher.

If you’re unsure which institute or qualification is best suited to you and your career, call our highly trained Course Advisors today on 0800 0126 770. They specialise in understanding you and your goals and will be able to match a qualification to your requirements.

Once you’ve completed the enrolment process, you’ll receive access to the IoSCM Gateway. Your login details will be sent via email from our Student Support Team. To begin your studies, you’ll need to log in to the IoSCM Gateway and complete your induction. Once you’ve done so, your first unit will be released and you can begin.

Depending on the course you have chosen, we will provide you with a time frame. This time frame represents the amount of time we expect you to be studying and receiving our support for. Time frames can range from 6 to 30 months, depending on the course chosen. This is based on a minimum study time of 3 hours per week, but if you study more often then you’ll complete your course in less time. On the other hand, we have a range of solutions in the situation that you require more time. One of the benefits of distance learning is that we’re entirely flexible.

Please email your student support liaison on the email address provided in your induction pack or call 0191 378 7520 to reset your login details for the Learning Hub.

You can find a list of units for each course detailed on our website. Simply head to the ‘Courses’ section of the menu to navigate to the area of study you are interested in, and click through to the individual course pages to find out more. Alternatively, if you would like to be reminded of the units that you selected upon enrolment, you can contact student support.

If you’ve misplaced or damaged your course materials, please get in touch to organise and purchase a replacement copy of your books. You can drop your dedicated student support liaison an email on the contact details provided in your induction pack or call the team on 0191 378 7520.

Please get in touch with us as soon as possible and we will guide you through how to cancel your exam.

We encourage all students to progress to the next level of their course where available. For up-to-date information on progression opportunities, please contact student support, who will be able to discuss this with you and help you move forward.
