Module Format

The ‘Principles behind logistics requirements of a supply chain’ bite-size course has been written and developed by experts with combined experience, totalling decades, of working in logistics and the wider supply chain industry. Using first-hand knowledge and experience of logistics requirements and functions, within modern business, the introductory course has been written to support you with expanding your understanding of:

  • An understanding of the cost of logistics including how to make savings in certain areas

The course is designed to give you a detailed introduction to, and understanding of, the principles behind logistics requirements within the supply chain.

The bite-size begins by exploring what is meant by the term Logistics and understanding the Logistics Process Cycle. You will then go on to gain insight in to who the customer is and the part a logistics department plays in achieving high levels of customer satisfaction. Looking at logistics services through the eyes of the customer, before moving on to looking at the power shift in the supply chain and the ‘Rise of the Big Player’.

Once you have a firm understanding of the responsibilities of a logistics function within the supply chain, your studies then move on to focus on the total cost of logistics services and how, and when, different methods and levels of outsourcing can help ensure high levels of customer satisfaction in a cost effective way.

The course concludes by looking at the legislation and regulation that applies to logistics which will also advise on types of licences required to ensure you have a rounded knowledge of the purpose, roles and responsibilities of logistics within the wider supply chain.

In order to complete your bite-size studies and receive your certificate you need to achieve an overall score of 80% + on the questions. Don’t worry if you don’t achieve this on your first attempt, simply revisit the topic, refresh your knowledge and try again.

Once you have achieved the required score you have successfully completed your bite-size studies with IoSCM. Your IoSCM certificate  is now available for you to download and will make a great addition to your C.V.
