Reserves Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the important part that Reservists play in supporting the UK’s defence capability, making a valuable contribution to the nation over and above their regular day jobs.

The Reserves have always played an essential role in our Armed Forces and, through their dedication and professionalism, they make a vital contribution to protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas. Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career.

Formerly known as ‘Uniform to Work Day’, Reserves Day provides an opportunity for the whole of the UK to celebrate our Reserve Forces and for Reservists to show pride in their service.

Here at DLC Training & Training we understand the Reservist community is diverse. Reservists come from all walks of life, and they hold down their day jobs in every industry and work at all levels of the job spectrum from entry level to senior management.  Businesses are recognising the skills Reservists can bring to civilian employment and are supporting them through measures promised as part of their commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant. A Covenant we are very proud to say we have signed.

Being able to support our reserves, serving and ex- military personnel with their career development is something we are very proud of. We work closely with these individuals, some of who are moving in to civilian life for the first time, to help them choose which of our qualifications will provide them with the skills and knowledge they need to secure the job of their dreams.

“I was looking for a course that would help me to demonstrate the management skills I have developed in the Army would be transferrable to a working environment outside of the Military as I was retiring from service. DLC Training have a great choice of Management courses and worked with me to decide not only which course but also which level would be the best choice for me. The ability to use ELCAS credits towards the cost of my studies with the college was also a huge advantage for me. I am over half way through my studies and have already secured a fantastic job managing a team of 24 individuals. Each day I am able to apply my management skills both from my military training and my studies to effectively improve team performance. The ability to work on my studies around my other commitments is a really useful bonus that I would only have from studying online, my Tutor has also added to my learning experience with really knowledgeable support and feedback whenever I need it. Going from my own personal experience I would have no hesitation in recommending DLC Training to my military colleagues (and my civilian ones!) looking for recognised qualifications and training.” – Adam Snaith (CMI Level 5 Extended Diploma)

So far this year we have supported 113 students to choose the most valuable study route for their individual development and each one of them are off to a great start with their studies.

Our team of highly qualified Military career advisors have a great understanding of the pressures faced by Reservists who hold down full time employment while playing a vital part in our military, we understand flexible learning is a must and the ability to work from anywhere in the world is key to successful studies. Carrying out career assessments and working with the individual to create a development plan is just one of the ways we can support our Military personnel. We can also support individuals with accessing and using ELCAS credits towards their studies.

To celebrate Reserves Day 2018 we are offering a free Career Assessment to every reservist, serving or ex-military personnel to show our support of our Nations Hero’s. Get in touch to find out more. Telephone 0800 012 6770 or Email info@dlctraining.co.uk
